Public in Private

The Berlin based company Public in Private was founded by Clément Layes and Jasna L. Vinovrški in 2008. In a collaborative approach Public in Private researches, reflects and questions social, political and cultural structures, as well as individual positions in these structures. Public in Private’s goal is to push the boundaries of choreography as a contemporary art form and reflect on the media conditions of dance.

Clément Layes has been living and working as a choreographer and performer in Berlin since 2008. At the edge of choreography, visual arts and philosophy, his works are based on observations of daily life. His performances – amongst others „Allege“ (2010), „Der grüne Stuhl“ (2012), „Things that surround us“ (2012), „dreamed apparatus“ (2014), and „TITLE“ (2015) – tour internationally. In October 2017, Layes premieres „The Eternal Return“ at Berlin’s Sophiensæle. The group piece is the first choreographic work of a new series, in which Layes deals with the manifestation and mechanics of rhythm. clementlayes.com

In 2012 Jasna gained her MA degree in Choreography at the HZT University in Berlin and started her PhD at the ATW University in Giessen, under the mentorship of Dr. Bojana Kunst. Her recent work “Staying alive” has been touring all over Europe. In November 2017 it will be presented in New York, US. publicinprivate.com
