WILHELM GROENER

WILHELM GROENER: Günther Wilhelm and Mariola Groener have been joining their names and disciplines, dance and fine art, under the WILHELM GROENER label since 2001. Their interdisciplinary approach generates a performative-choreographic oeuvre which unfolds between stage performances, site-specific works, lectures and exhibitions. So far WILHELM GROENER produced more than 20 stage works, numerous stations of their longtime performance project 33 SKIZZEN (33 sketches), several video works, editions and publications. wilhelmgroener.net

Mariola Groener, born in Poland, grew up in Munich. She studied communication design; artistic photography, film & AV-media in Berlin and Essen/Folkwang University of Arts. She was co-founder of the project and exhibition space Forever and a Day Büro, was awarded the photography-competition Das große stille Bild and received a.o. the Berlin choreography scholarship which enabled her to spend working time with Anna Halprin SF/USA. In addition to her position as co-director of WILHELM GROENER, she is an artist exhibiting her works at home and abroad. mariolagroener.net

Günther Wilhelm, born in Munich, studied Butoh, classical and modern dance in Munich and Berlin and graduated from the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten/MA Choreography. Before he and M. Groener kicked off the lable WILHELM GROENER, he was a longtime member of VA Wölf’s NEUER TANZ and worked a.o. with Dump Type and Anna Huber. He received the scholarship of Stiftung Kulturfonds, Künstlerhaus Lukas Ahrenshoop and the Berlin dance and choreography.
