STATE OF INNER MOVEMENT CREATING GEOGRAPHY
TRANSIENT PHENOMENA

The first concept of CEEPORT arose from Yurie’s desire to create a tragic piece by exploring her own personal perception of tragedy. She invited three artists from related disciplines to investigate tragedy from their own individual perception. She is interested in the resulting cyclical interaction creating unpredictable phenomena. This work is still at an early stage of the process. Tonight, they would like to invite the audience to the beginning of their journey…

Yurie Umamoto took ballet classes in Tokyo from the age of three. In 2010, she graduated from SNDO (School for New Dance Development) in Amsterdam. Besides creating her own works, such as Piece No.5 and RECYCLISTING SONG, she has been collaborating with artists from various disciplines. For example, Catalan dancer/ choreographer Clara Tena in their ongoing project Feather Leather. http://

Douwe Smit is involved with the fringe of the Amsterdam art scene. He studied for two years at the Gerrit Rietvelt Academy in Amsterdam and since then has been working with various artists from different backgrounds. Currently he mainly focuses on sound. Besides his work as a DJ, he is a drummer in the band Deep Freeze (formerly we vs. death). He takes part in the platform Dimensional/Amsterdam and is currently working on a soundtrack under the name of Condor 4.

Kumi Umamoto is a scenographer and costume designer. She studied theatre design at the Wimbledon School of Art (BA-Hons) and scenography at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design (MA) in London. She moved to Berlin in 2009 and has been working in a wide range of areas: stage set, costume, scenography, performance design/ concept, installation and window display.
