After MATKOT (on the beach) and MIDBAR (in the desert) Nir de Volff / TOTAL BRUTAL presents the last work of a thematic trilogy: PICNICS, WEDDINGS & FUNERALS.

In a garden in nowhere, social rituals such as wedding, funeral and joint meal – in this case in the form of a picnic – are danced to exhaustion. Gestures and symbols are reproduced, distorted and overshooted as by a magnifying glass. The rituals blend into one another in three almost film-aired files, which act like sudden flashbacks of the actors. The bodies of the performers are first reduced to the cultural movement codes of the respective ritual and finally begin to communicate with each other. In an entropic movement, the choreography finally collides with an emotionally apocalyptic “Clash of Happiness” – Hieronymus Bosch’s “Garden of Desires” in the Global Village. Nach MATKOT (am Strand) und MIDBAR (in der Wüste) präsentiert Nir de Volff / TOTAL BRUTAL nun die letzte Arbeit einer thematischen Trilogie: PICNICS, WEDDINGS & FUNERALS.

In einem Garten im Nirgendwo, werden soziale Rituale, wie Hochzeit, Beerdigung und gemeinsames Mahl – in diesem Fall in Form eines Picknicks – bis zur Erschöpfung getanzt. Gesten und Symbole werden wie durch ein Vergrößerungsglas wiedergegeben, verzerrt und ins Übergroße ausgestellt. In drei nahezu filmästhetisch aufbereiteten Akten, die wie plötzliche Flashbacks der Akteure wirken, verschmelzen die Rituale miteinander. Die Körper der Performer sind zunächst auf die kulturellen Bewegungscodes des jeweiligen Rituals reduziert und beginnen schließlich darüber miteinander zu kommunizieren. In einer entropischen Bewegung kollidiert die Choreographie schließlich in einen emotional-apokalyptischen „Clash of Happiness“ – Hieronymus Bosch’s „Garten der Lüste“ im Global Village.
