Story, story, die.

Tanz im August | HAU Hebbel am Ufer (HAU1)

Production Details / Press Releases

The new choreography by Alan Lucien Øyen “Story, story, die.” looks at the relationship between lies and love: the things we do to be liked. It explores how we constantly re-arrange everyday life into stories in an attempt to craft a desirable narrative – how we ‘lie’ about ourselves and ‘stage’ reality for each other – as we meet in person or through social media.

The Norwegian choreographer, director and dramatist Alan Lucien Øyen founded the company winter guests in 2006, a multidisciplinary group that brings together actors, dancers, authors, stage designers and technicians, and shows English-language pieces around the world. Whether theatre, dance or film, Øyen’s works are highly emotional and dramatic. His choreographic language is complex and technically challenging. Alan Lucien Øyen has received various awards both for his theatre productions and his choreographies. In 2018 he was invited to Tanz im August with his creation “Bon Voyage, Bob” for the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. winterguests.com
