THE DANCER OF THE FUTURE

Tanztage Berlin 2016 | Sophiensæle

Production Details / Press Releases

IN THE DANCER OF THE FUTURE Mirjam Sögner explores black and white photographs of Isadora Duncan for their queer potential and transfers the poses by techno beats.

MIRJAM SÖGNER studied contemporary dance, artistic research and choreography in Vienna and Arnhem/NL. Her last solo-work, Lara, was recently selected for the Aerowaves Twenty 16 Platform and is touring internationally. In 2014 she received a DanceWEB scholarship and was also a holder of the STARTStipendium from the Austrian Council for Arts and Culture.

GERARD REYES is a choreographer, dancer and teacher working between Berlin and Montreal. He has created and performed more than 20 works in North America and Europe. In August 2016, Tanzfabrik will present his latest interactive solo, The Principle of Pleasure. Every Sunday, Gerard teaches voguing classes in Berlin.

SANDRA BLATTERER, born in Vienna, lives and works in Berlin. She is interested in experimenting with different light qualities, its possible handling and its effect in space and set design. She collaborated with Shannon Cooney, Siegmar Zacharias, Sergiu Matis, Jana Unmüßig, Begüm Ericyas, Hermann Heisig and Laurie Young.

BARNEY KHAN runs the label Bis Bald Records in Berlin. His forward thinking sound design has propelled his tracks to international dancefloors over just a few releases. While the philosophy behind his music has stood out as individual to critics, it has been the motivation behind working in conceptual dance.
