Catherine Gaudet interessiert sich für subtile Verschiebungen des Körpers, für Mikrobewegungen, die verborgene Empfindungen sichtbar machen. In “The Fading of the Marvelous” verbindet die kanadische Choreografin rohe, präzise Körperlichkeit, dramatische Spannung und Groteske. Sie untersucht die universale Struktur von Kreisen, um tiefe menschliche Erfahrungen zu entdecken: In der zugleich strengen und sinnlichen Choreografie durchlaufen fünf Tänzer*innen beständige Transformationen, die sich, begleitet und getrieben von hypnotischen Beats, bis zur Ekstase steigern.

Catherine Gaudet studierte zeitgenössischen Tanz an der Université du Québec in Montréal. Danach etablierte sie sich als Choreografin, deren Stil als stark und unverwechselbar gilt. In ihren künstlerischen Arbeiten strebt sie danach, die kleinen Zuckungen des Unterbewussten im Körper aufzuspüren, jene minimalen Bewegungen, welche Gefühle und Empfindungen verraten, die wir zu verbergen suchen. Dabei trifft ihre rohe Körperlichkeit auf eine Theatralität, die absurde dramatische Spannung mit schwarzem Humor verbindet. 2004 zeigte Gaudet ihre erste Choreografie und profilierte sich 2005 mit “Grosse fatigue”, das bei der Aarhus International Choreography Competition in Dänemark gefeiert wurde. 2009 befasste sie sich in ihrem ersten abendfüllenden Stück “L’invasion du vide” mit den Folgen des Verlustes. Catherine Gaudet ist einer der kreativen Köpfe hinter dem neuen Centre de création O Vertigo (CCOV), gemeinsam mit Mélanie Demers, Caroline Laurin-Beaucage und Ginette Laurin. Sie ist Gründungsmitglied und Künstlerische Ko-Leitung von Lorganisme, das sie unterstützt und produziert.
