About Tanzforum Berlin

Tanzforum Berlin is a video platform that presents contemporary dance performance events in Berlin. It caters to dance audiences, dance performers and directors, curators and event organisers both in Germany and abroad.

Despite the enormous variety of productions in Berlin, contemporary dance is underrepresented in the media and therefore unfortunately also in the public eye. At the same time, dance being a visual and highly dynamic art form makes it difficult to describe with the power of words alone and as such predestined for the moving image. The Tanzforum Berlin project was founded in April 2008 within this context. We post 3-5-minute video trailers presenting current projects by renowned Berlin choreographers and young artists, as well as productions shown within the scope of established Berlin dance festivals. All trailers on this website are produced exclusively by the Tanzforum Berlin team.

Tanzforum Berlin is committed to encouraging greater interest and curiosity in the theatre world, and providing a broad range of information in order to promote new contacts and networking. Our trailer archive constitutes a comprehensive information tool for everyone interested in dance.

This website is administered by Bickmann & Kolde GbR on behalf of the Berlin Senate department for culture and Social Cohesion.

EFRD-projects „TANZ – Attention Dance“ and „Taf – Tanzforum Berlin“

In connection with the “TANZ – Attention Dance” project the Tanzforum Berlin website was given a complete overhaul in terms of concept, graphic design and technical implementation. Since the relaunch in March 2017 it has been available in a bilingual format (German/English), and includes a specially produced video portrait series on established Berlin choreographers, dance ensembles and venues to complement the online video content provided by Tanzforum Berlin. “TANZ – Attention Dance” (project duration: January 2016 – February 2018) was made possible with the support of the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe and the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRD).

The project “Taf – Tanzforum Berlin” featured a new series of portraits focusing on the diverse range of new talent in the Berlin contemporary dance scene. Two new presentation formats were developed to complement the existing online video content: Instant Feedback video reviews and dance films available on-demand 24/7. “Taf – Tanzforum Berlin” (project duration: March 2018 – February 2020) was made possible with the support of the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe and the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRD).
