Production Details / Press Releases

Due to an irreparable error, “ARK 1” has become disconnected from its main network. Floating through deep space for centuries, digital apparitions and hallucinations haunt the solitary humanoid AI onboard. Now in a state of deterioration, it attempts to make sense of its inbuilt information of past human existence. Which fragments of its data and value systems will be preserved or vanish into obsolescence? In this immersive solo performance installation, choreographer Colette Sadler and visual artist Mikko Gaestel thematise the future of the human in relation to technology inside the virtual architecture of a 3D environment.

Berlin-based Scottish choreographer Colette Sadler creates dance works in which the realms of virtual and physical reality intersect. Initially trained at Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London, Sadler initiated Stammer productions in Glasgow in 2002 to support her artistic production in the fields of choreography, performance and curation. Since 2006 Sadler’s works have been shown in numerous dance and visual arts contexts, including Performatik Festival at Kaai Theatre Brussels, South Bank Centre London, Nottingham Contemporary, Les Latitudes Contemporaines France, OGR Turin Italy and TRAMWAY. In 2019 she premiered “TEMPORARY STORE” at Sophiensaele Berlin and worked on the production “FUTURELAND” for director Lola Arias at Maxim Gorki Theatre Berlin. Since 2016 Sadler has been developing “Present Futures”, a cycle of works and curatorial events that deal with the thematics of speculative futures and post-humanism.
