After “andropolaroid”, Kölner Tanzpreis 2010, the second joint production of Yui Kawaguchi and theater-51grad.com follows.

In the dance project “Bubble Boxing”, which focuses on the art of “speech bubbles” in the manga and comics, Kawaguchi, together with the Portuguese dancer Gonçalo Cruzinha, develops the encounter and approach of two people. They speak bubbles as projection surfaces of their feelings, thoughts and conversational attempts. These bubbles embody the longing for a dialogue in which we feel and recognize our existence. In the square ring the protagonists dominate their “bubbles”, they cross the blades and create a drama. They fight for understanding, fight with each other, but always meet themselves. Where is the game going? What pushes me to the wall? When will the next gong be hit?

In dem Tanzprojekt “Bubble Boxing”, das die Kunst der “Sprechblasen” im Manga und Comic in den Fokus rückt, entwickelt Kawaguchi gemeinsam mit dem portugiesischen Tänzer Gonçalo Cruzinha die Begegnung und Annäherung zweier Menschen. Wie Projektionsflächen ihrer Gefühle, Gedanken und Konversationsversuche leuchten Sprechblasen auf. Diese Blasen verkörpern die Sehnsucht nach einem Dialog, in dem wir unsere Existenz fühlen und erkennen. Im quadratischen Ring beherrschen die Protagonisten ihre”Bubbles”, sie kreuzen die Klingen und kreieren ein Drama. Sie ringen um Verständnis, kämpfen miteinander, aber treffen immer wieder sich selbst. Wo geht dieses Spiel hin? Was drängt mich an die Wand? Wann wird der nächste Gong geschlagen?
