DIE AUSSCHREITUNG

Ballhaus Ost

Production Details / Press Releases

Together with sound designer Niels Bovri, Bally and Tricard create an eerie world of foley, floods and bodily devices. Die Ausschreitung is based on a science-fiction novel written together with the author Clay A.D., along with the many participants of writing workshops held in Chile, Belgium, France and Germany. Dipping its toes both into dystopia and utopia, the piece explores what it means to draw on narrative structure when making performance. How much story is needed? Does it need to be told chronologically? And who gets to tell it? Our guides on this explorative journey are the two friends Glitch and Copper Key. While they try to solve the mystery of a vanished fries truck, the question of whether we are able to take action to change the future, or if it is all inevitable, is left to us, the audience.

Emma Tricard currently based in Marseille, graduated from the Master Exerce at the ICI-CCN in Montpellier. Dancer and choreographer, she loves to talk. Since 2015, she develops a choreographic research based on the observation and distortion between “saying” and “doing”. Thrown into an adventurous quest, she invents dances of conjugation, thinks her work in the future and plays humorously with the causal relationships between things, thoughts, movements and natural phenomena.

Cécile Bally is a Berlin-based choreographer with degrees in dance (HZT Berlin) and economics (École Normale Supérieure de Paris-Saclay). Her artistic work creates links between these two milieus and questions, with humour, the place of rationality and magical realism in performance. Cécile Bally anchors her work in the world of science fiction as a social critique and looks at predominant entities of current popular culture provoking dreams and nightmares at the same time.
