Production Details / Press Releases

One of the most important and contradicting social discourses we are currently in is about the need to fundamentally redefine or significantly change the relationship between nature and society, nature and humans in the face of man-made climate change, globalization and digitization to prevent future disasters. The phenomenon “time” and, of course, “space”, are essential categories when thinking about and looking for models for a sustainable future. The body as our very own starting point for the experience of time and space is only indirectly included in this discourse, if at all. In the context of this discourse, dealing with the phenomenon “time” is the central aspect of our production. In the practical implementation, 8 dancers from the Rubato dance company and 8 musicians from zeitkratzer, the European solist ensemble for contemporary music, meet in a dialogical process.

The European solist ensemble for contemporary music zeitkratzer has long been concerned with the terms time and space in their music. Many pieces that zeitkratzer play, explicitly relate to the questioning of a conventional concept of time. In their live concerts the term of “time” is provoked in different ways. Rubato dance company has already worked together with zeitkratzer in the past. In this project a new overall composition will be created for an ensemble of 16 artists. Contemporary music and contemporary dance are equal partners in a joint creative process.
