Displaced/Angekommen

Production Details / Press Releases

Displaced. Exiled. Transplanted. And yet always in the process of planting new roots. This is the basic ambivalence in the lives of many migrants. With her project Displaced/Angekommen, dancer and choreographer Maria Colusi brings this feeling on stage: How do bodies dance in the transition from an old to a new home? How does the migrant experience find its physical expression, oscillating between here and there, past and future, aspiration and reality? An intimate family story is a metaphor for the inner conflicts of an entire population. Danced, cast, and drawn on stage and on paper. Displaced/Angekommen is inspired by two pictograms from the archive of the Migrantas collective. The music and soundscape accompanying the dance piece are composed by Argentinian composer Edgardo Rudnitzky.

María Colusi (Argentina) is a dancer, choreographer and dance teacher. She has worked in Argentina at the Ballet Contemporaneo del Teatro San Martín. In Europe she worked with Sasha Waltz, Heike Henning and William Forsythe among others. Her works have been performed in several venues as Radialsystem, Dorky Park, DOCK11, Berliner Ensemble, Acud theater, Lido theater, Theater Kapelle, Soundance Festival,Schloss Solitude, Festival Iberoamericano Plataforma Centro Artistico it Grattaclelo and La-borgras among others.
