“Ene Man Negn” (Who am I?) talks about how two young performers shaped their national identity by keeping a very subtle balance – between the sense of belonging to a place and the wish to embrace new ideas, between the past and the future. In this choreography Addisu Demissie and Junaid Jemal Sendi open themselves to the audience to narrate their story and those confusing, but exciting moments lived, that brought them where they are today.
DESTINO Dance Company is an Ethiopian social venture born to support underprivileged people in developing their inner potential through dance. It aims at providing art education at the first community dance centre in Addis Ababa and promoting Ethio-contemporary dance nationally and abroad. DESTINO Dance Company was established in February 2014. It was founded by two contemporary dancers, Addisu Demissie and Junaid Jemal Sendi. Junaid and Addisu have performed at festivals and theatres across Europe and Africa for the last 15 years with his previous company named Adugna. Their work has been internationally recognized with awards and prizes, and Junaid Jemal Sendi received the prestigious Rolex Mentor et Protégé Award.
