Production Details / Press Releases

During a one-week artistic work phase, the two performers develop a site-specific action for the garden of EDEN Studios Berlin. Various research on site with a focus on movement/dance and sound lead to a performance with an initially open outcome. An experiment in a special environment.

Jenny Ocampo (Berlin/Bogota), choreographer, improviser, teacher and dance researcher. Her working method is based on improvisation and somatic practices. She explores the relationship between body and environment, where imagination and intuition as well as sensations of space, gravity and time play a significant role in choreography and composition. In addition to her diploma in dance at the Folkwang University of the Arts, she is currently completing her second master’s degree in dance studies at the Free University of Berlin. She currently directs the dance and chore-ography programme at Cenda University in Bogotá.

Emilio Gordoa, Mexican composer, sound artist, percussionist / vibraphonist based in Berlin since 2012. He’s involved in numerous projects including his work as a soloist and in collaboration with theater, dance, performance and other interdisciplinary frameworks. Emilio is specially focus in experimental music, sound art, noise, free jazz, improvisation and contemporary music. He is redefining the vibraphone as a source, treating it with preparations and extended techniques and is a busy composer as well, writing graphic scores for a variety of ensembles, large and small, for theater, documentary films and audiovisual.

Das soundance festival berlin zeigt gemeinsame Projekte von Tänzer:innen, Choreograph:innen und Musiker:innen, Komponist:innen der Berliner Freien Szene und lädt internationale Gastkünstler:innen ein. Als Impulsgeber für den Dialog zwischen den Sparten, zeigt das Festival ein breites Spektrum künstlerischer Stile von Zeitgenössischem Tanz zu Echtzeitmusik, von Post Butoh zu New Jazz und Improvisation – analog und elektronisch. Generationsübergreifend werden vielfältige Werke und Formate zwischen Klang und Bewegung im Theater und im Stadtraum für das Publikum erfahrbar.

Video Documentation

The video documentation is produced on behalf of the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion. The purpose of this contract is to document productions in the field of contemporary dance in Berlin. The master recordings are archived by the University Library of the Berlin University of Arts. Copies of the recordings on DVD are available for viewing exclusively in the reference collections of the following archives (at media desks in these institutions):
