Production Details / Press Releases
In the performative installation Geteilte Echos the choreographer Miriam Jakob navigates through multi-layered relationships with an alpine scree slope on stage exploring the perceived standstill of a mountain before its collapse.
In an equally poetic as well as laboratory-like arrangement, she explores the parallels of an aging mountain to herself. In the stage landscape, different levels of representation overlap between stone props, digital point clouds, and human as well as rocky zones of weakness. Fragile experiences of a mountain world in constant flux emerge. Away from alpine idyll, Miriam Jakob exposes herself and her audience to the seismographically representable vibrations from the interior of the mountain. The unheard vibrations and the fragility of the mountain set everything in motion and even unsettle thought itself. The theatrical apparatus invites exploration of one’s own instabilities along the mountain using all its means.
In her research for Geteilte Echos, Miriam Jakob collaborated with, among others, the dancer Arantxa Martínez and the sound artist Felix Claßen, initially on-site in the Allgäu Alps and in dialogue with scientists from the GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam. The intensive artistic-scientific exchange about the crumbling mountain Hochvogel became an important metronome for this multi-layered reflection on upheaval and the power of transformation within the performance.
