IBI = born and EJI=two
“Ibeji” is a duet created for German dancer Anna-Luise Recke and Tchadian dancer Hyacinthe Abdoulaye Tobio. Inspired by the African Yoruba Cult of Twins, it raises the question about the role of the other in the development of one’s own personality and identity. By looking for common grounds, similarities, doublings, differences between the two dancers and their approach to the body, time and space, the choreographer Caroline Meyer Picard provokes a dialogue. What expression do the extremes of “unity” and “separation” take on in this encounter of cultural concepts, perspectives and aesthetics?
