If It’s All In My Veins

Sophiensæle

Production Details / Press Releases

If It’s All In My Veins disrupts and reimagines the history of contemporary dance, unmoored from time and place in the digital age. Inter-generational cast Hellen Sky, Michelle Ferris and Georgia Bettens are accompanied by animated GIFs displaying excerpts of dance iconography. These tiny moments of dance history, reformulated through internet culture, are re-embodied on stage. These dancers are workers, responsible for the means of their own production, maneuvering stage lights and objects to frame each mini spectacle of the dance canon in real time before an audience. If It’s All In My Veins revitalises the punk/DADA fantasy of “no future”, collapsing dance history and envisaging its end whilst offering a space to re-envision possible future’s. It is a flamboyant and prophetic statement on how the past is produced and reproduced.
