LOS NINJAS – MATTER OF BLOOD

Tanztage Berlin 2016 | Sophiensæle

Production Details / Press Releases

A DRIVE TOWARD EPICNESS. A collision of souls. Los Ninjas are ruling the game. At the edge of the cliff, they search for the ultimate state of presence, with their bodies as weapons, a taste of blood in their mouth, they are ready to kill and heal and trespass. Commitment is in the heart and printed on the skin. THE NINJA PRACTICE is a concept that goes beyond the fictional characters who practice it and their obsession with struggle and risk. It’s an on-going set of tasks, scores, tastes and habits involving an extreme personality in constant change. The rules and interests are changing. The practice evolves as ninjas continue meeting each other and practice in different situations, constellations and geographic locations.

ROCIO MARANO is a movement and image maker born in Argentina. While obtaining her BA diploma in Graphic Design, she was working as performer in a theater company for four years in Spain. In Germany, she has recently worked with Alma Toaspern, Visual Artist Julian Rauter, and Susanne Grau with whom she has worked in several projects and in collaboration. For the last two years, she has been developing with Lea Kieffer “the ninja practice”. She is the director of the documentary film Danza Sin Fin (2014).

LEA KIEFFER is a performer, dancer and clothes maker born in France. She is ninja at heart and a Tarantino movie fan. As long as she remembers she always had a taste for risk and physicality. She likes to make extremes coexist. Lea studied Sport at university before studing Dance, Impro-visation and Performance at TIP Freiburg. In 2014 she recieved the DANCEweb scholarship. Lately, beside her collaboration with Rocio Marano, she worked with Michael Shapira, Angela Schubot, Benjamin Polig and Juha Marsalo.

GAËTAN RUSQUET, born in 1984, is currently working as a performer, interpret, collaborator or project lead, in the field of performance, dance and visual art. Through his proposals, he is working on the necessity of movement related to various mediums. He is currently collaborating with Lucille Calmel, Thierry Smits, Lea Drouet and Meg Stuart.
