Production Details / Press Releases
“Ma Ma Ma Materials” is a solo performance by Adam Linder. This work plays out as a slew of performative attitudes, in which various materials—from Egyptian antiquity figures to the performed convention of ‘the post show talk’—are carried by the body. The performer acts as a proxy for historical traces, reproductions from popular imagery and inanimate associations. These multiple aesthetics and staged attitudes are pealed away like garments that envelop the body.
Adam Linders most recent works have been presented at Kunsthaus Dresden (2012), Silberkuppe Berlin (2012), Tanz im August Berlin (2012) and The Watermill Centre NY (with Shahryar Nashat, 2011). Previous shows have included: Tanz im August Berlin, Springdance Festival (Netherlands), La Biennale di Danza Venice, The Grec Festival Barcelona, The Sydney Theatre (commission from Sydney Dance Company), Rencontres Chorégraphiques Internationales, Zagreb Dance Week and Festival Lausanne Danse. Adam has an ongoing collaboration with visual artist Shahryar Nashat. Prior to focusing on his own practice he performed with Michael Clark, Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods, The Royal Ballet and visual artist Pablo Bronstein. And trained to be a dancer at The Royal Ballet School in London. Adam is currently on residency at K3 (part of Kampnagel) in Hamburg where he will premiere Who Funds The World? Culture, a rap performance on February 27th 2013. Later in 2013 he will present a reinterpretation of the Ballet Russes’ production Parade at HAU in Berlin.
