Production Details / Press Releases
Out of a dark, glossy mass, bodies start to materialize – everchanging in their shapes, in the ways they move and meet. In »Meet Your Dancestors!«, Berlin-based Performance collective Tentacular Figurings invites you to a r/evolutionary show, an undisciplined family* reunion with our pre- and post-human ancestors. Three performers will dive down into the primordial soup of our slimy origins in order to crawl, dance and sing their way into the blank spaces of scientific explanatory models. Using objects, masks and puppets, they expand their bodies to conjure up our speculative ancestors beyond normative constructions of species, gender and sexuality. It’s gonna get loud, and wild and electrifying! Leave your »sapiens« at the checkroom and Meet Your Dancestors!
Tentacular Figurings is an exploratory, multi-disciplinary performance collective. Core team are Mika Bangemann and Eddie N. von Seckendorff. Since 2021, they have been developing ambiguous bodies beyond the human in their performances. »Meet Your Dancestors!« is their first work at Ballhaus Ost.
