NUEVE PUNTO OCHO On the surface of earth, the acceleration caused by gravity is approximately 9.81 m/s2. By the effect of gravity we have the sensation of weight. We decided to stablish a relationship in the transposition of this effect to different centers or places of interaction throughout the body. If gravity is the one that governs most of the phenomena that precede us, in this project and therefore for the consequence of suspension, we transit to the illusion Einstein spoke once, that points further out to an effect of the geometry of space-time.
The dance collective COLECTIVO AM is this year’s guest of the festival. Members of the collective present two performances and a showing including a discussion forum. Colectivo AM was born at the end of 2010, after a funeral service taking place in the Teatro de la Danza, in Mexico City, during the closing stage of the choreographic project Sala Tomada. The current members of this collective are choreography and live arts related artists, passionated about history, advocates for reflection and for self-criticism. Though various nationalities gather here, all of them are mostly based and developing their work in Mexico City. Every member has their own artistic project (be it choreographic, performative, theoretical) but in AM they have found a platform for exchange and negotiation, for sharing processes, questioning methods, comparing results, proposing academic activities, and for working collectively around performance projects.
