Production Details / Press Releases
Individuals are involved in complex social developments and search for meaning, orientation, concrete behavior and action. Polarization and empathy are possible ways of dealing with social reality. There are positive and negative sides to both terms.
Polarization develops a negative force when it leads to dialogue and discourse no longer being possible. But polarization can also be used as a creative means of conducting an open debate in order to find new solutions.
The ability to empathize is very likely a natural human trait and forms the basis on which knowledge about oneself and others is generated. However, empathy can also be nurtured for people who pursue reactionary, intolerant or very selfish goals. Prominent examples would be Jair Bolsonaro or Donald Trump.
Both terms deal with relationships between people and social groups. Perception, movement and active action are essential for the development of empathy. Social polarization is carried out through bodies, which themselves consist of polar structures in their body systems. Through the body, the interaction of the dancers, the choreography and the live music, images, atmospheres and energies are created in which both polarization and empathy are addressed as a complex field of tension that contains both useful and dangerous, utopian and backward-looking elements.
