“Romantic love is such a stereotype that it is already a cliché to say that love is a cliché. And yet it is remarkable to see that regardless of how much the stereotype character of love may be conscious to us, we are all strongly seized.” (Eva Illouz)
Whitehorse: these are Julia Jadkowski, Lea Martini and Chris Leuenberger, who attended the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam. In 2007 they won the Jurypreis at the 100 ° Festival with their play “White Horse – An attempt in live therapy”. Her second production “Trip”, which is based on a scene from Sergej Eisenstein’s film classics “Panzerkreuzer Potemkin” with the physical representation of jubilation and euphoria, has been internationally on the road since the premiere at the Freischwimmer-Festival 2008. Her new trio “Romance” revolves around the motif of romanticism as a longing state of a fusion with the world.
Together with a prince and his white horse, the three go to the search for romantic worship and devotion to contemporary bodies. The exceptional condition of being in love is celebrated – butterflies in the abdomen, blue lagoons and heart palpitations can occur as well as lusty dizziness and impulsive tenderness. The mighty story of private happiness is quickly declared a public romance. “Romance” is an unconditional and purely physical declaration of love to the audience. In order to approach the subject at a different level, Whitehorse, as an institute for heart affairs, collected more than 100 declarations of love, which can be heard in the foyer before and after the performance at the Locus Amoenus.
