In SAKHI 03.04 Sara Mikolai explores the relationship between the female protagonist, Nayika, and the female supporting character, Sakhi. These characters are depicted in the South Indian dance form Bharatanatyam, which is a dance form from the 20th century, that has appropriated the old Sathir temple dances. Sara takes the position of a Bharatanatyam dancer, with a desire to unravel distorted knowledge.
SARA MIKOLAI is a dancer, choreographer and Performance Artist from Berlin. She studied Areastudies of Asia and Africa at the Humboldt- University Berlin, as well as Dance, Context, and Choreography at HZT Berlin. Together with Kiran Kumar, she is the co-founder and member of the artistic research collective The Dotted Dance Project.
