Production Details / Press Releases
SAVANNAH is the place in space where Bráulio and António meet. It is a universe that changes at every move they make. Through this journey, they touch upon their own shared history, their perceptions, memories and dreams. Together, they strive to create their own notion of “The Exotic”, racism, cultural appropriation. Reenactment and transformation are thus the tools for this adventure to unfold. The belief in the power of their own shared imagination produces a performativity that is as tight as it is soft, that last in eternity, but only in that moment. A paradoxical interpretation of modern times we live in, in hopes of creating a powerful sensorial experience to whomever is watching.
ANTÓNIO ONIO UND BRÁULIO BANDERA are two portuguese makers that live in Berlin. Having shared a friendship for many years, it is in Berlin that they meet and first, only though supporting each others artistic practice, they decide to work together from 2015 on. After Divocean, premiered in HAU in the context of 100° Berlin Festival 2015, they showcase Savannah in Tanztage Berlin 2016, their first work in total collaboration.
