About using spoken language in the solo:
“The words I speak in the solo are an excerpt of a written piece I made, after having witnessed a demonstration in Portugal in October 2010. I had been sitting on a bench and observing. I then went home and started recalling how I saw what I had seen. Once finished I had a need to make the words on the paper more palpable in order to share them with others. I started talking them out loud. When starting to work on how to possibly speak the words I got more and more interested in HOW to say them, rather than in communicating the picture they delineate or its possible meaning. As when choreographing I departed from the concrete, from what is here and now available to me, and then abstracted from there toward the question: how do I experience this? How do I experience talking? And, similar to the choreographies, I got more and more interested in the structure of the words. Speaking is for me like a body movement, a tool to cut space, to compose space.”
