The Loose Collective

The Old Testament According to The Loose Collective

Tanz im August 2014 | Sophiensæle

Production Details / Press Releases

In their third work “The Old Testament According to The Loose Collective”, the Austria-based international group of dancers, choreographers and musicians dedicate themselves to the texts of the Old Testament. Using contemporary performance methods – from cut-up techniques and chorus scenes to beat-boxing and diaspora post punk – they propose a physical and musical montage of elements of this enormous body of text, which still today is an expression of creativity and utopia, of human ambition and frustration.

The Loose Collective is an Austria-based group of international contemporary dancers, musicians and choreographers. It was founded by Alex Deutinger, Alexander Gottfarb, Marta Navaridas and Anna Maria Nowak out of the desire to create dance and musical performances in a non-hierarchical structure. Other current members of the collective are Guenther Berger, Michael Dolan, Radek Hewelt, Hanna Hollmann, Thomas Kasebacher, Stephan Sperlich. The Loose Collective works have been invited, among others, to Tanzquartier Vienna, Feedback Festival [1st+2nd edition], Winter Theatre Sochi, Kino Siska Ljubljana, Made in Dublin Festival, Project Arts Center Dublin , Impulstanz Vienna International Dance Festival, Danceweek Festival Zagreb, Opera Estate Festival Bassano del Grappa, Tanzwerkstatt Europa, Dampfzentrale Bern, The Place London, bestOFFStyria Festival Graz, Mercat dels Flors Barcelona, Dansenshus Stockholm.
