A body
A body is enough, a body makes a difference.
The philosopher Santiago Alba Rico says that “A body is worth as much as time has been invested in waiting for it, in looking at it, in taking care of it, in paying attention to it.” And what does choreography demand if not paying attention to bodies, spaces, objects, sounds, words, lights, dreams, shadows, and the present. A body is the intuition of an instant, it is a process that from choreography tries to unveil the sensitive possibility of the present, an intimate and anonymous instant that pretends to become poetic and political. Only a body that recognizes the immensity of the present will be enough, will be able to make a difference… in the world
At the beginning of their second year, the students of the MA Choreography present choreographies that they have developed together with composition students from klangzeitort, the Institute for New Music at the Berlin University of the Arts and the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music. One choreography student and one composition student will test forms of interdisciplinary collaboration and develop projects on freely chosen themes.
The works will be shown in two different blocks in the studio hall of the HfM Hanns Eisler Berlin (Program 1) and in the HfS Ernst Busch on the Bühne Unten (Program 2).
