Production Details / Press Releases

To walk… to… with… away from…
The fall… The shift… The common weight… The counterpoint…

A research on walking.
A very basic yet highly sophisticated and intricate form of movement.
A continues weight shift that takes a direction.
Touching the boarders of off balance as it stays centered.
Endless oppositions and spirals within a body as it moves forward.
Two bodies… as they walk together, patterns and shapes appear, subtle dynamics can be interpreted, images can be drawn, and narratives can form.

SHAYMAA SHOUKRY thrives through a passion for choreographing, performing, and creating video art. She is a multidisciplinary artist coming from a visual arts background, interested in integrating diverse disciplines in her creations. She is always motivated and inspired by working collectively, while developing her personal work in an organic build up process: each project is paving the way for the next. Currently she is interested in researching the origin of movement, repetition and transformation. She is always questioning approaches to share her artistic practice with a public from diverse backgrounds and various landscapes. Shaymaa studied Visual Arts and Theatre in the American University in Cairo, and Dance at the center of creativity, Cairo Opera House School, school of 2006. She followed the contemporary dance program at Studio Emad el Dien 2008-2011 as well as Seeds, training for dance teaching 2012-2014. She is also Artistic Director and cofounder of Dayer company for artistic productions based in Egypt.
