WORKER’S CHOICE

Tanztage Berlin 2017 | Sophiensæle

Production Details / Press Releases

WE PUT ON JEANS AS AN INDIVIDUAL, AS WOMEN, AS WESTERNERS. The contemporary corset. A familiar attire -this country was not build by men in suits- liberated, original, authentic -do you want to know what comes between me and my …? Nothing!- the female body has indeed been portrayed as liberated in favour of advertising jeans, but has she just as much been constrained by the same material and clothing? -AAA IIII Æ Æ, reading is to the mind what Calvins are to the body- WORKER’S CHOICE explores how the female body has been choreographed by jeans and its material denim -I did love you once- how the female appearance is portrayed -so that’s what happened to me, I’ve been calvinised- we dive into the liberated, free, sexual -person- and start with four legs and two pairs of blue jeans.

MIRIAM KONGSTAD works in several mediums such as performance, sculpture, installation, writing and curatorial practices and is part of the artist duo Bonnie & Clyde. She studied woodwork in Copenhagen, holds a diploma in dance and graduated in 2016 from HZT Berlin (BA Dance, Context, Choreography). Using her artistic work as a tool for de-coding and re-coding the everyday, she regards herself as guinea-pig in artistic games.

SUVI KEMPPAINEN is a Finnish choreographer and dancer. Her work anchors in the physical body and situates in the relation to non-bodily textures. In her practice she explores the interactions between mental states and physical situations, creating abstract but readable atmospheres under total conditions. After graduating as a dancer from North Karelia College Outokumpu, she is currently studying at HZT Berlin.

JONAS FREDERIKSEN is an artist and musician from Denmark. In 2014 he graduated from the Royal Danish Art Academy. Mostly known as the keyboard player in the Danish pop outfit Girlseeker he is now a part of SQ: an art collective from Copenhagen, the artist duo Bonnie & Clyde and runs his own exhibition space, Geojax.
