Gegenübertragung

NAH DRAN hyper-extended: Force Fields | ada Studio in den Uferstudios

Production Details / Press Releases

“Gegenübertragung” (“Countertransference”) is the inevitable mix-up of the roles of the patient and the psychoanalyst, and something the analyst must consciously be aware of. As anywhere, it is an endless effort to see someone without seeing yourself. Psychoanalysis allows the patientʼs drifting and free-flowing mind to meet with both mythologies and mundane events. The relationship between the patient and the analyst has potential for an unusual friendship where the ever-shifting borders – of personal and shared experience, of bodyspecific and universal, of helper and the one helped – allow both to navigate the fog.

A business school graduate and former futures researcher, Simo Vassinen started performance making in 2014. He has shown his own work at ada Studio, Theater im Delphi, Sophiensaele and the STATE Arts and Science Festival, and performed alongside other Berlin performers at Theater Freiburg and Ballhaus Ost. His performance and dance work co-exists and mixes with his other freelance jobs as a translator, interpreter, researcher, event producer and journalist. His first solo “Om (Mm…)” premiered at ada Studio and was a top 10 finalist in Germanyʼs Best Dance Solo 2015.
