Production Details / Press Releases
‘New Rear’ is a solo dance piece that sets up a paradoxical mind game between the ‘new’ and the ‘rear’: two concepts which invoke notions of the unknown. What lingers just beyond our field of perception? ‘New Rear’ proposes an alternative ‘reversed’ state of being, that questions our relationship with progress; a re-imagining of what has not yet become, by emphasizing the landscape that is ‘behind’ and poetically facing the unknown. The body is “wildly empty”, a porous vessel that is activated, seized upon and driven by invisible forces. ‘New Rear’ will take us on a frisky journey through a malleable sphere, where a new kind of sense-making arises. A raw and magical milieu is revealed, a sensuous geography that makes you reflect, cracks you open, maybe makes you laugh.
