Irene Cortina González was born in 1989 in Valencia, Spain. She completed her training in contemporary dance at the Conservatorio Profesional in Valencia and studied at ArtEZ in Arnhem (Netherlands). Since 2013 she is a member of the Dance International Council of UNESCO. She lives as a dancer, choreographer and pedagogue in Berlin. At the moment she is one of the teachers for “Dance up your mind” (improvisation and instant composition) at TATWERK Berlin. As a choreographer, she has created solo and group pieces in the past three years, shown in the Netherlands, Germany and Spain. Improvisation is one of the most important elements of her work, and she uses it on stage for both dancers and musicians. Their main interest is the clarity, precision and significance of movements as well as the work on space, composition and images. With her solo “Where thoughts are movement”, she was already in the ada in autumn 2011.

Irene Cortina González wurde 1989 in Valencia (Spanien) geboren. Sie absolvierte ihre Ausbildung in zeitgenössischem Tanz am Conservatorio Profesional in Valencia und ein BA-Studium am ArtEZ in Arnheim (Niederlande). Seit 2013 ist sie Mitglied des Dance International Council der UNESCO. Sie lebt als Tänzerin, Choreografin und Pädagogin in Berlin. Im Moment ist sie eine der LehrerInnen für “Dance up your mind” (Improvisation und Instant Composition) bei TATWERK Berlin. Als Choreografin kreierte sie in den letzten drei Jahren sowohl Solo-, als auch Gruppenstücke, die in den Niederlanden, Deutschland und Spanien gezeigt wurden. Improvisation gehört zu den wichtigsten Elementen ihrer Arbeit, und sie nutzt es auf der Bühnen sowohl für Tänzer, als auch für Musiker. Ihr Hauptinteresse gilt der Klarheit, Präzision und Signifikanz von Bewegungen sowie der Arbeit an Raum, Komposition und Bildern. Mit ihrem Solo “Where thoughts are movement” war sie bereits im Herbst 2011 im ada zu Gast.
