QUEST

Making a Difference | Sophiensæle

Production Details / Press Releases

KORNBLUM-RETTENMUND is an artist collective that has been founded by the dancer, performer and space-strategist Tamara Rettenmund and the artist and stage designer Amelie Hensel. Their research is bundled at the intersection of dance, performance and space strategies. They work with what is there, and those who are willing to be involved, sometimes to flee, those who solve the gordian knot. Together they let the raisins hover, perform on Kurfürstendamm, on stages and in galleries.

For Quest, Kornblum-Rettenmund, together with Christoph Rothmeier, go on a heroic travel into the dark fields of outer space and those of the tulle. They open their research to the aspects of a sounding stage. They interweave panels of different webbing and follow the call of adventure. Quest – bulksolids and stardust is the destillation of a sixmonth research. A search for the dance of the new legs in twelve chapters. The path leads along a steep wall into earthy furrows. Unfolding like mist, arising in a glen, shimmering like a lake softly touched by the wind and moist and soft like tender ground, drizzled by the rain not long ago. (Ch`a -king, Luh, yü, 3rd chapter) Tulle.

Light is breaking in the fragments, opening up the space in various directions and showing the vulnerable and invinceable body.

The one, that morphs into an empty room, in which others can enter unhindered, he would be master of all circumstances. The whole has the power to govern the part. (Das Buch vom Tee, Kakuzo Okakura)

The test assembly emerges into a daring adventure: not to know. To find an own measurement. With lame wings. How long to hold a pause? Is this the moment, when dance originates from a gaze. There, where space ends, something new starts. If one chapter is closed, something new arises. Always.

Quest is the result of a residence and the first evening-filling piece by the collective Kornblum-Rettenmund within the framework of Making a Difference – Tanzpakt Stadt Land Bund, which advocates a change in the Berlin dance scene through a self-confident and visible community of dancers with disabilities.
