AN ANIMAL WENT OUT

Tanztage Berlin 2016 | Sophiensæle

Production Details / Press Releases

AN ANIMAL WENT OUT is a trio about a story we can’t tell you. We can dance it, sing it, mime it, swim it, but it’s about something one wouldn’t normally discuss on stage … This may sound a bit cryptic, but we’ll give you hints and enough time and dance for you to figure it out on your own – or even better, to just imagine a new and better story.

KARETH SCHAFFER works as a choreographer and performer. Her works have been shown in diverse European venues: in 2015 the trio Unerhört (Tanzfabrik) and the group work Dirty Money Mudwrestling (Uferstudios). Schaffer regularly works for artists deufert&plischke, Stefanie Wenner, and Tino Sehgal.

SANDHYA DAEMGEN is a performer and choreographer studying at HZT in Berlin. Her pieces include Alter Ego and What’s That Noise? shown in Ufer Studios and KuLe and Is It My Body? in Paris at CND Camping. She has worked as a performer for Alexandra Pirici, Tino Sehgal, Inna Krasnoper and Arcade Fire.

MARTIN HANSEN is an Australian-born artist working in dance, choreography, and installation. He studied at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia and HZT Berlin. Recent choreographic works include Monumental (2014) and A Queer Kind of Evidence (with Ania Nowak).

CATHY WALSH is a performance maker and technician from Cork, Ireland. Her work focuses on intimacy, improvisation, and time. She often collaborates with Kareth Schaffer and Ruairi Donovan and has presented her own work and performed all over Ireland, the U.K, Germany, Finland, and the U.S.

In addition to costume design, CHRIS SCHERER is a performer and maker working within various genres. He graduated from ACArts (Australia) with Bachelor in Dance Performance and an Advanced Diploma of Acting. Most recently he’s been working for artists including Nir De Volff, Falk Richter, Tino Sehgal, Laurie Young & Torque Show.

Visual artist CHRISTIAN FALSNAES began making music with Kareth Schaffer as part of his gallery performance work. His most recent exhibition was in Hamburger Bahnhof as a nominee for the Preis der Nationalgalerie. Solo exhibitions include Kunstverein Braunschweig, Bielefelder Kunstverein, KIOSK, and the Juan and Patricia Vergez Collection.
