A SOUND HAS NO LEGS TO STAND ON

Tanztage Berlin 2016 | Sophiensæle

Production Details / Press Releases

A sound has no legs to stand on – inspired by this quote by John Cage, Jule Flierl installs a spatial sound score on the stage. The old question of the relation between dance and music finds a perspective in the voice. All sound stems from the performers, whose sounds reveal their physical state. The voices are present and at the same time invisible like ghosts. Sounds with legs, a sound that stands in the room, two-legged sounds.

JULE FLIERL, born in Berlin, studied contemporary dance at SEAD Salzburg and finished her Master in Choreography at EXERCE. Her work focusses on the problem with the stage and on vocal dances. In 2009 she already showed Happiness is a war…m gun 1 at Tanztage Berlin.

VINCENT ROUSSEL, born in Aueyon/France and based in Marseille, studied Fine Arts in Rennes. He is an acoustic noise musician who researches the dialog between sound and space.

ARTHUR ESKENAZI, born in Paris, studied Fine Arts and received a MA in Choreography at EXERCE. His work deals with contemporary forms of writing.

SOROUR DARABI, born in Chiraz/Iran, is based in Paris. She played classical Violin, became an autodidactic dancer and did her Master in Choreography at EXERCE without even having a BA. In her work she uses objects and transgresses gender.

ADALINE ANOBILE, born in Geneva, is living and working in Brussels. She studied Textile Design, Philosophy and did her Master in Choreography at EXERCE/Montpellier. Her work deals with materiality and transformation.
