Simple, but complex and all-encompassing, as is life itself – this is Serge Aimé Coulibaly’s new work. In the wake of the difficulties of the last three years, he views “C la vie”as a point of departure towards a new vitality, and an impulse to take matters into one’s own hands again and celebrate the joys of existence. This production for seven dancers, voice and percussion, was inspired by the desire to replace a passive existence with action: not to hope, but to have faith. Strength instead of power. Collectivity as the highest value. Coulibaly connects these ideas with rhythm, movement, and sheer exuberance. He calls for a collective and joyful investigation of what it is that makes life worth living.
